Our Story

Jimmy and Catie Rippy have been married since 2005, they have four children, and they're committed to home education.

In 2015, God put a desire in their hearts to start a home Bible study and invite three friends who did not attend church. The home Bible study quickly grew, and in 2016 Jimmy and Catie became full-time North American Mission Board church planters as they launched AuthentiCity Church in San Diego, CA.

For the next two years the church gathered in various rented spaces at schools, cafes, gyms, and large event rooms.  During that time 23 men, women, and children were baptized. Then, God led them to a space they were able to lease in an office building near their home in the fall of 2019 so they could better serve young families. They continued to meet in their new facility until the end of April 2020, when the economic recession created an over 50% decrease in giving, which forced the church to move out of their leased space. AuthentiCity quickly adapted to online Bible teaching, home prayer groups, and God is continuing to grow AuthentiCity.

Despite these challenges, AuthentiCity has seen God recently bring 4 people to faith Jesus Christ.  The church believes that God uses difficult circumstances to build character and move his people to something better. So they remain excited and confident about the future knowing that Jesus will build his church, nothing can stop it, his kingdom will come!

We worship Jesus Christ and live by His Word.

What is church?

ACTS 2:42-47

"They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
